-SOLUTIONS : SERVICE PROVIDERS : WIRELESS

With the continuous increase in speed of smart phones and the multimedia applications that run on them, it is even more important for wireless service providers to pre-instrument their backhaul and backbone networks in order to maintain the highest possible service levels. Existing network monitoring infrastructure offers limited access, visibility and processing power which simply does not scale for today’s 10Gb/s Ethernet networks. Wireless service providers provisioning 2G/3G/4G running over IP networks require flexible monitoring solutions which can identify, isolate and replicate traffic regardless of backbone speeds, application types or tunneling protocols (GTP and other encapsulations).

Regardless of the type of service provider, all service providers have implemented IP-based backbones for voice, video and data, the majority of these run over Ethernet backbones. With current speeds up to 7.2 Mb/s to smart phones over HSPA 7.2 and future speeds up to 100 Mb/s over LTE, 10Gb/s Ethernet backbones are not only commonplace but are a requirement to maintain service level agreements.

Only RedDot Networks provides 100% application and network visibility using Pinpoint Packet Inspection™ which identifies, isolates and replicates any type of traffic on the backbone regardless of encapsulation technique. Our solutions have the processing power to locate the desired application or traffic flow, optionally remove GTP headers, load balance sessions to multiple monitoring tools, add timestamps to preserve timing and monitor latency and jitter. Using Pinpoint Packet Inspection™, wireless service providers can effectively monitor and quickly troubleshoot application or network traffic regardless of where it may occur in the packet. RedDot Networks makes monitoring mobile wireless backbone networks as simple as doing a web search.

RedDot Networks’ products have been designed to operate in service provider environments with optional -48V DC power supplies, very low power consumption (e. g. less than 80W) and minimal cooling required. The products can be configured through a web-based GUI or using a command line interface which can be used in conjunction with scripting/automation.
